Sushi-making at Home Class 1/04 (Lonsdale)
In this hands on class, join Kimiko Suzuki and learn how to make authentic plus modern Japanese homestyle sushi. Kimiko will share secrets to making perfectly seasoned sushi rice, tasty sushi rolls and cones; as well as, traditional ‘pressed sushi’, with a beautiful presentation that delights both the eyes and the palate. We will discuss why restaurant miso soup is rarely the "real thing”, have a chance to taste various miso pastes, and create nourishing homemade miso soup with ‘dashi’ broth and hand chopped ingredients.
- Miso soup with tofu and seasonal vegetables
- Classic sushi rolls with spicy tuna (or Negitoro option for umami lovers)
- Inside-out avocado rolls decorated with delicious locally smoked salmon, mango and avocado
- Sushi cones
- Tamago (egg) nigiri
- Pressed Salmon sushi (beautiful square shape “oshi-zushi” with grilled salmon and thin sliced egg, in traditional wooden press mold)
Complimentary Edamame and Green Tea will be served and each participant will take home a sushi mat.
