Chef Anna Hunt

A native of Victoria, Anna Hunt was born into a family big on sharing food, wine, and each other’s company.  Fuelled by a passion for food and learning, Anna has spent much of her life in the kitchen.  She began to develop her culinary talents more seriously in Montreal, where she studied French pastry and rose through the ranks at Montreal’s popular Taverne sur le Square.  Upon returning to Victoria in 2007, Anna spent time working with the talented caterers Feys and Hobbs.  She then found herself working under Chef George Szaz at his new restaurant Stage Wine Bar and then at Paprika Bistro, where, under new management, she assumed creative control of the kitchen.  As Chef at Paprika, Anna continued developing her unique approach to food, fusing her professional experience with her family’s honest and generous approach to ingredients and food sharing.  In spring 2012, Anna’s own family grew with the birth of Eloise.  Shortly thereafter, new openings also presented themselves professionally, as Anna was invited to develop Charelli’s & Co in Oak Bay. Following Baby Oban’s arrival in 2014, Anna now works as a freelance caterer with her business Bread and Butter Catering and as a culinary educator.  She continues to make wholesome, inspired meals for those around her.   – the little people and big people.
