Product Highlight: A Danish Dough Whisk and a Bread Banneton

A couple of classic tools came into Cook Culture last week,… a Danish dough whisk and a bread banneton (no this is not a start of an off colour joke). If you aren’t familiar with these tools, the whisk has an artful squiggle of stiff wire that looks like it was created by Miró, with a sturdy wooden handle attached. It is used to pull together dough ingredients and is especially handy for the wet artisanal doughs popular with contemporary home bakers

1. A recent test  of 100 samples of chicken bought from supermarkets across the country by the CBC show Marketplace has shown that even antibiotic-free chicken is contaminated with antibiotic resistant bacteria, or superbugs.

On Monday and Tuesday night, students at Cook Culture took their imaginations and taste buds to Puglia, the region that encompasses the heel of the Italian boot. Chef Mara Jernigan spent a month cooking in Puglia and travels there every year.  At Cook Culture this week, students didn’t need their passports to experience Cuicina Pugliese.

The Surreal Gourmet will be at Cook Culture on February 11th!
