Sugar high!

20 December 2010

Here at Cook Culture we are always excited about chocolatey treats, so all throughout Sunday we had two different chefs in our kitchen making lots of sweets and adding inches to our waist line!

Johnny Lee, our specialist in French cuisine, came by with sacks of organic chocolate in hand and baked dozens of gooey chocolate chip cookies – some of the best I’ve ever had. Monsieur Lee also threw together some decadent, hand-rolled chocolate truffles and pepper-spiced walnuts (both of which are now for sale in our store).

On Tuesday night, Cook Culture’s Culinary Director, Genevieve LaPlante, hosted Cocktail 101. This class, which was all about entertaining, provided students with a plethora of new recipes to use at home during the holidays and throughout the year.

Relaxing Risotto with Chef Mara Jernigan

8 December 2010

On Thursday night, chef Mara Jernigan taught a group of risotto rookies that making the traditional Italian dish doesn’t have to be complicated or time consuming. Instead, this class was a great chance to socialize, sip wine and chat with new friends while preparing a risotto feast.

How to choose a knife with Chef Mara Jernigan

7 December 2010

Without question a knife is the most important tool in the kitchen. How you use it and maintain it can make the difference between agony and delight. Most of the time when we’re talking knifes with people we’re asked the difference between our brands of knifes, and what each unique shape is for.  Buying a knife can (and should be) a very important and time consuming process as the knife you choose will become the most trusted tool you own. However there's so much to choose from!
